JOB DESCRIPTION
The position of Senior PCB Designer – Xpedition is responsible for creating PCB layout designs from electrical schematics, net lists, mechanical input, bills of materials, and associated detail documents that adhere to the latest fabrication and assembly standards, while meeting or exceeding demanding customer timelines and schedules.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
- Individual design contributor – reports to Program Manager. May report to Principle Designer for project related tasks.
- Works in support role and takes direction from Program Manager, Senior PCB Designers and Principal Designers. Typically does not lead design projects
- Capable of handling multiple tasks at any given time
- Creates, from engineering inputs, board mechanical profiles, board fabrication stackups, detailed board fabrication drawings and packages, assembly drawings, assembly notes, etc.
- Loads and debugs Schematic net lists
- Typical tasked to place components, perform density analysis, and route traces
- Limited project management responsibilities such as working to meet schedules and timelines, identification and communication of out of scope work to Program Managers, FCS management, Senior Designers, Principle Designers, and/or the customer
- Must be capable of generating layout status reports daily/weekly for customers and Operations if needed
- Must be willing to work extended and flexible hours to meet critical schedules when necessary
- Basic Schematic knowledge
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Basic computer literacy with PC/NT/Windows-based applications:
- Microsoft EXCEL, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project
- Limited knowledge of signal integrity design constraints encompassing differential pairs(loosely, tightly, broadside coupled), impedance control, EMI, and ESD
- Excellent and positive communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Excellent team player
- Adapts well to changing customer requirements
- Works with customer and FCS team to ensure compliance with Standard Manufacturing Design specifications (IPC, Customer Specific, etc.,)
- Self-motivated and must be able to work independently and in a team atmosphere
- Detail oriented, organized
- Basic electronics
EDUCATION
- Required: ASEE degree, or equivalent industry experience
- Preferred: ASEE degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology. CID is plus.
EXPERIENCE
- Required: A minimum of 5 years of PCB Layout experience with 3 + years of experience designing medium to complex printed circuit boards in Xpedition.
- Working knowledge of Industry Design Standards – ANSI, IPC, ITAR, ISO
- Preferred:
- Experience with more than one design tool suite.
- Prior Service Bureau experience
